In collaboration with Indian Health Council, Chia Cafe Collective, and Solidarity Farms, Climate Kids participated in a tree planting and educational event in Pauma Valley. Climate Kids educators worked with Tribal youth to explore the impacts of climate change both globally and locally - helping students to understand what actions they could take to help the earth. As a way to lower their carbon footprint and help cultivate the farm, students then participated in planting several trees alongside local farmers and Tribal educators.
Solidarity Farms is a worker-owned family farm owned by the Pauma Band of Luiseño Indians. The farm is striving to create a stronger, healthier, more food secure future. They practice “ethical farming” meaning that they work hard to balance the needs of humans, animals, plants and nature in a way that honors each part of this interconnected system. While being a working farm, Solidarity Farms also hosts Farm School, an educational program that connects students to their community and the food system.
Climate Kids is honored to be invited to participate in events such as this one that promote healthy living, wellness, and build a more sustainable future.
