Traveling Trunks Featured in SD STEM Ecosystem Directory

SD STEM Ecosystem, a partner of the Climate Science Alliance, aims to create a San Diego where every learner is at the center of a rich ecosystem of connected STEM learning opportunities and STEM-supportive individuals. La Jolla Tribal Youth Get the “Inside Story” at the SD Zoo

This summer, the Alliance teamed up with tribal partners across Southern California to send tribal youth on free field trips. We wrapped up at total of four field trips on August 1, 2018 with students from the La Jolla GENERATIONS Program at the La Jolla Band of Luiseno Indians. This special Climate Kids-Tribes field trip visited the San Diego Zoo for an “Inside Story” tour on climate change impacts to endangered species. Climate Kids-Mexico Teams Up with Out of the Boat Swim for Underprivileged Youth Summer Camp

The Alliance’s Climate Kids-Mexico (CKM) program has been busy with Summer events in Tijuana. For the second year in a row, CKM teamed up with Out of the Boat Swim in July to provide a summer camp for underprivileged children living in coastal communities. CSA Attends Insect and Ladybug Festival at the San Diego Botanic Garden

The Climate Science Alliance partnered with the San Diego Botanic Garden (SDBG) to bring Climate Kids activities to their Insect Festival on Saturday, July 21st. The festival featured fascinating creepy-crawlies including live insects, lizards, snakes, ladybugs and the famous “Madagascar hissing cockroaches” brought to the guests by many partnering agencies. Tribal Youth from the San Pasqual Band Learn about Watersheds and Impacts at the San Diego Zoo

On July 25, 2018 tribal youth from the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians attended a Climate Kids-Tribes field trip to the San Diego Zoo. The group participated in a "Watershed Scavenger Hunt" created using the Zoo’s self-guided watershed curriculum with an additional "Color Your Own Watershed" climate change activity. CK-Tribes' 3rd Year at Pala Little Feathers

On July 9th, the Climate Science Alliance was invited back to Pala to be a part of the Pala Band of Mission Indians Little Feather's summer program to teach during Career week. Climate Kids-Tribes Field Trip to Living Coast Discovery Center

On July 27, 2018 the Pauma Band of Luiseño Indians visited the Living Coast Discovery Center in Chula Vista, California for a special Climate Kids-Tribes field trip! The Climate Science Alliance has partnered with San Diego Coastkeeper over the past few years to help incorporate climate change themes into their educational programs and to pilot them at local classrooms. Schools Learn About Climate Change Through Song and Dance with Alliance Partner, Nos de Chita

In 2016, Climate Science Alliance partner, Nos de Chita, brought the climate change message to six schools and over 3,000 students. Climate Kids Art on Display at Balboa Park through December!

The Balboa Park Sustainability Program is hosting a Sustainability Studio in the Balboa Park Spanish Village Art Center to highlight the Park’s green initiatives and partnerships. Climate Kids-Mexico Joins Forces with Out of the Boat Swim

Climate Kids-Mexico was a part of Out of the Boat Swim's Summer Camp on the Beach. About 50 youth went through the Climate Kids program, all ranging from 6 to 17 years old! As a team, Climate Kids-Mexico (CKM) and Out of the Boat Swim (OBS) developed an integrated environmental education approach to this summer camp. Climate Kids Sustainable Art at Pacific Beach Elementary

Climate Kids art was on display at Pacific Beach Elementary throughout the month of June. Students planted native plant seed inside salvaged shoes donated from Goodwill at Cabrillo National Monument with resident artist Joan Green. Students decorated a shoe with reused items and art supplies displaying their commitment to helping the Earth. Resources Available from Climate Communications Training
